Meet Dr. Osborne
Dr. Osborne
received his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Loyola University of Chicago
School of Dentistry in 1982 and completed his dental residency at Loyola-Foster
G. McGaw Hospital in 1983. From 1983 to 1987 he trained in Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and School of Medicine.
After completing his surgical training, Dr. Osborne joined the faculty of Emory
University in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as an Assistant
Professor and also as the Assistant Chief of Service at Grady Memorial
Hospital.
Board certified
by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Osborne is a
diplomate of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is
a member of the Georgia State Dental Association, American Dental Association,
Georgia Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and Benchmarq Healthcare
systems.
One of the
area's most honored professionals, Dr. Osborne has received specialized
training and experience in dental implantology, maxillofacial reconstruction,
orthognathic surgery, anesthesia and complicated exodontias. He has published
scientific articles, contributed chapters to surgical textbooks and lectured on
these topics throughout the United States and in Europe. Dr. Osborne is
included in Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science
and Medicine in America, and is listed in America's Top Dentists in Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgery. He is also the founder and director of the Atlanta
Seattle Study Club.
Dr. Osborne and his wife Joan have two children, Thomas and Elisabeth. Thomas currently attending California State University, Long Beach, and is pursuing a career in filmmaking. Elisabeth is currently persuing her Masters degree at Middle Georgia College. She and her husband, Francisco, welcomed their second child, Matthew, in March 2012. Matthew joins big brother Nicholas, who will turn two in December.
During his free
time Dr. Osborne enjoys snow skiing, scuba diving, hiking, swimming and trail
running. In 2005, Dr. Osborne climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania via the
strenuous and challenging Western Breach Approach. His most recent adventure abroad was to Nepal
in 2008 for another climbing expedition, and future treks include the Inca Trail in Peru and a return trip to Nepal. He also enjoys
playing the piano and singing.
The Atlanta Seattle Study Club
Dr. Osborne is the Director of The Atlanta
Seattle Study Club. The Atlanta Seattle Study Club is a unique group of dentists and dental specialists who are
dedicated to the advancement of excellence in comprehensive dentistry. Their
members include some of the most prominent dentists in the Northeast Atlanta
area. The members actually present challenging cases to each other and are able
to gain valuable feedback from generalists and specialists. The Atlanta Seattle
Study Club also provides continuing education by inviting some of the nations
most prominent speakers and clinicians to present full day continuing education
programs during the course of the year. Kristin Leary serves as the
coordinator for Atlanta Seattle Study Club meetings and events.
